About the Veterans Park Neighborhood in Culver City

Veterans Park sits centrally in Culver City, bordered by Overland Avenue on the east and just minutes from downtown Culver!   The neighborhood takes its name from Veterans Memorial Park itself — 20 acres the city purchased in 1938, originally planned as "Exposition Park" with a 180-foot illuminated tower overlooking the original MGM back lots across the street now Studio Estates.  Those plans changed after the war: in 1948, Culver City voters passed a bond for a new memorial and recreation complex, and the site was formally dedicated as Veterans Memorial Park in 1949. The Veterans Memorial Building opened in 1951, complete with a gymnasium and restaurant, and was dedicated with the Gold Star Mothers as guests of honor.

That same park still anchors the neighborhood today — tennis courts, ballfields, a play area, and Fiesta La Ballona drawing the whole city here every year!  

What Homes Look Like in Veterans Park

Veterans Park is largely mid-century and post-war construction — solid lots, real square footage, and homes that many have remodeled and increased the original square footage. It's a little more attainable than neighboring Carlson Park while still offering walkability to the park, close proximity to downtown Culver City, and access to Culver City's highly rated schools.  Every park community in Culver City has it’s defining factor outside of its “park” and for Vet’s Park is it’s proximity to the three public schools, Farragut Elementary, Culver Middle and Culver High School that all reside within the Veterans Park or Park West (some call it Park West!) neighborhood.
